Our 2020 vintage of Grenache gave us the opportunity to explore the dynamics of the Eden Valley region once more, by capturing deeper red tones in the glass reflective of the intense grape skin colours. A medium-bodied Grenache style, it brings out raspberry, mulberry flavours, and dark fruit notes appearing in the mid-palate with a dash of classic bonbon confectionery cinnamon that Grenache is well known for. Structured acidity and grippy tannins keep the basket of wild fruits well in check.
Our 2020 Megan Jane is our fourth Grenache release from our Eden Valley single vineyard. Megan has been an integral part of our Brockenchack family since its inception and we felt it only fitting to honour her ongoing dedication by naming this wine after her.

Being named Eden Valley Grenache Winery of the Year at the 2019 Melbourne International Wine Show, for our first release 2017 Megan Jane Grenache, was a huge achievement for our family. This recognition is something we will always be immensely proud of and it goes a long way toward proving that the quality of our vineyard is something very special and indeed capable of producing world class wine varieties, outside of our region’s renowned Riesling and Shiraz. ~Harch Family~
2020 Vintage Summary:
As quoted by Barossa Wine “Barossa’s 2020 wines will again be sought out early by fans and collectors, with yields tracking below the 10-year average due to temperamental spring weather, and a hot, dry summer.”
Our whole region’s reduced yield in 2020 is partly due to some interrupted flowering in spring, thanks to some very cold nights and strong winds, followed by extremely hot, dry summer conditions. As in previous years, we focused our attentions on maintaining soil moisture and irrigating before these heatwaves and we fared alright through the hot conditions.
In some areas of Eden Valley, vineyards were down 70-80% (mainly due to lack of water) and in a few cases some vineyards were not even picked at all. Similarly to 2019, despite being down 45% on our own normal production levels, our quality is brilliant.
Winemakers are touting this as another high-quality Barossa vintage.
