Our 2021 Zip Line Shiraz is created to be enjoyable upon release, and this year is no exception. Seasonal conditions were favourable for Eden Valley Shiraz, creating a bright ruby-coloured wine showing ripe fruit and subtle floral aromatics. Restrained use of oak allows the fruit to lead the way, with ripe red and black fruits happily filling the palate in an effortlessly luscious style. The pure ripe plum and black fruits are instantly mouth-filling, with soft chocolate and vanilla notes all wrapped up in excellent tannin grip – and length for miles.
Our Zip Line Shiraz is named after the zip line cable at our vineyard which generates endless laughter for all generations of the family – and much like this wine, it’s a smooth ride to the end. Our Zip Line Shiraz is made from our Eden Valley single vineyard Shiraz grapes, plucked from a combination of our older vines with an average vine age of 60 years, to give depth and complexity, and from our younger vines planted in 2008, to give fruit freshness and vibrancy.
Vibrant upon release, this wine will easily mature for 8 to 10 years to come.

“Good complexity with ripe blackberry and red plum on nose. Concentrated flavours of black fruit along with a hint of oak flavour. Structured with high acidity, soft tannins and a long finish.”

2021 Vintage Report
Winter rainfall in Eden Valley was only 5% below average, with August being the wettest month for the winter period, filling our dams which we were oh so grateful for, because from November, dry conditions ensued. Growing season rainfall (Oct-Mar) was 20% below average with only February recording above average rainfall. Temperatures were relatively mild for much of the growing season, providing ideal conditions for growth and berry development. Flowering was uninterrupted this year, allowing good fruit set.
Night-time temps during Spring and Summer were cooler than normal. These cooler nights are critical to, and the hallmark for, the quality of grapes and wines from our Eden Valley vineyard, allowing our vines time to rest, and allowing aromatic flavours, finesse and natural acidity to be maintained. The mild daytime conditions provided optimal ripening, allowing great fruit flavours to develop.
Whilst yields across the region varied depending on water supply, they were mostly higher than vintage 2020, which is the case with your 2021 crop.
Quality is exceptional from our 2021 Eden Valley vintage. Whites are fine with amazing natural acid and intense flavours. Reds are flavourful and deeply coloured. A vintage for now, and for the long term.
