2024 MEGAN JANE GRENACHE
Original price was: $45.00.$40.00Current price is: $40.00.
Our 2024 Grenache is all about fragrance, charm, and effortless drinkability. It shines brightly with ruby-crimson clarity, while the aromas are immediately enchanting. Juicy raspberry, wild strawberry, and red cherry burst from the glass, followed by hints of cranberry, blood orange zest, and rose petals. As it opens, more delicate complexities appear, showing white pepper, star anise, crushed herbs, and earthiness.
On the palate it’s silky, juicy and wonderfully approachable. Bright red berry fruits lead the way with ripe raspberry, strawberry and red plums, carried by a structured acidity that gives our style its energy. Fine, supple tannins provide a soft mouthfeel, while subtle spice notes of cinnamon, delicate pink peppercorn, and a touch of liquorice wander through the mid-palate. There are also some subtle savoury notes on the long finish that ground the bright fruit with a sense of place.
Named in honour of NZ Operations Manager Megan, who has been an integral part of our team since Brockenchack’s inception, we felt it only fitting to honour Megan with a wine that is as equally vivacious & reliable as she is.

Due to the rising costs we have stopped entering our wines into as many wine shows and wine reviewers, but rest assured that you’ll enjoy the same great quality from our wines, year after year.

2017 was our first ever release of our single vineyard Eden Valley Grenache…
Being named Eden Valley Grenache Winery of the Year at the 2019 Melbourne International Wine Show, for our first release 2017 Megan Jane Grenache, was a huge achievement for our family. This recognition is something we will always be immensely proud of and it goes a long way toward proving that the quality of our vineyard is something very special and indeed capable of producing world class wine varieties, outside of our region’s renowned Riesling and Shiraz. ~Harch Family~
The 2024 growing season was marked by unique weather patterns. We began with a wet June, followed by a dry spring, which set the stage for an intriguing season. Early frost and variable fruit sets presented initial hurdles, but December’s timely rains rejuvenated our vines, promoting robust canopy growth and healthy berry development into the new year. As summer unfolded, warm temperatures and a dry autumn provided ideal conditions for ripening, culminating in a harvest that spanned eight rewarding weeks.
Our team approached the harvest with dedication, combining machine harvesting and handpicking to capture each grape at its peak. While some areas required extra time on the vine to reach full ripeness, the overall quality of the fruit was exceptional, showcasing the resilience of our vineyard.
Our white wines this year are truly remarkable. The warm days and cool nights created an ideal environment for crafting wines with purity and intensity. The Pinot Grigio is delicate and nuanced, while the Chardonnay offers rich complexity. A standout is the 1896 Mackenzie William Riesling, which continues to impress with its vibrant acidity and historical significance. Each varietal reflects the meticulous care taken in our vineyards.
Our red wines have also flourished this season. The Grenache is elegant and refined, capturing the essence of our valley. The Shiraz, bold and robust, reflects the strength of our vines. Our Cabernet Sauvignon stands out with its promising structure and longevity. These achievements are a testament to our commitment to canopy health and precision in our vineyards, ensuring each grape reaches its fullest potential.
