It is with great delight, and as a very proud grandfather, that I can officially introduce and welcome my two grandsons; Jack Pollock and Mack Naylor, to our Brockenchack family business.
It was always a dream of mine when I began these businesses that the grandkids would be involved in one way or another, when they were ready, and I am thrilled that we’ve now reached that day.
As many of you would know, Jack (aka Jack Harrison Shiraz) has been living with Marilyn and I at our Eden Valley vineyard since 2019, where he’s taken over management of the property and has even introduced black angus cattle to our portfolio. We also have the future goal of him managing the winery that we’re in the process of building. He’s always on the go and puts in huge days to keep our property up to scratch. He works closely with out viticulturalist to manage the vineyard to ensure we produce the best possible fruit each vintage.
Then we have Mack (aka Mackenzie William 1896 Riesling), the newest addition. He started with us as of the beginning of this year, after finishing Uni in December, with what is sure to be, flying colours. Mack has come on board as our accountant with the long-term goal of one day becoming our next Chief Financial Officer. He’s based in our Buderim (Queensland) office, with regular trips down to the vineyard in Eden Valley. Mack is keen to learn the ins and outs of business life, so will also be working alongside our marketing and sales team to get full understanding of our businesses.
I’m also thrilled to have granddaughter Charli (aka Charli Jaye Chardonnay) working in our Buderim office as our brilliant all-rounder. When not flat out with university, Charli is busy helping pack, prepare and deliver orders, and keeps the team organised. We love having her as part of the team and greatly value her input.
Bronte (aka Miss Bronte Cabernet Sauvignon) is also busy studying and working as an exceptional dance instructor, but she’s always willing to lend a hand, packing and labelling Brockenchack Wine for international orders when needed.
All in all, I’m a pretty bloody lucky grandfather, to have four amazing grandchildren, who all share my love for business, and are all incredibly passionate about their own individual fields.
You’ll hear more about Jack and Mack over the coming year, but in the meantime, stay happy, healthy and with a few bottles of Brockenchack Wines in the cellar.
